I really like the photos on the blog...I wish I could figure out how to wash out a picture but still make certain colors pop.

    My favorite:

    Those eyes!

This is really good. I sometimes use the same image several times to get the effects I want. Sometimes you have to work on one image to get it to pop, one to play with other stuff and then burn parts of multiple edits into each other. Work in .tif if you do this though, because you don't want to compress any image data.

I know this thread is a couple days old, but wow it's almost hard to believe such a beautiful site, portfolio and talented photographer come out of rural Saskatchewan. I don't know why- maybe I'm just thinking on the odds given the population density. If I just saw the site and had to guess my mind would probably be thinking big city USA- even though there are lots of wheat fields and such in her images. Absolutely stunning- makes my photography seem so bland I almost wanna quit.

I noticed from her EXIF that she shoots with a Canon 5D (once again making me question my decision to get a D300 instead of pushing my budget a bit more for a 5D when Canon was offering all those rebates), and it appears that for that shot above she used a 50mm prime. I would really love to know how much photoshopping she did to get that result. Looks like it could have been intentionally overexposed in camera and then maybe just some selective burning and sharpening to bring back the eyes, lips and bit of the hair.

Hmmm once again I get to be the voice of dissent. Nice photography, HORRIBLE website. Even on my high-speed connection page loads were taking in excess of several seconds, and there was a noticable lag between individual pictures loading. People have to get away from this use of Flash; sure, it gives a slick looking product, but it's clunky and slow. Can you imagine being the rural flat-lander trying to view that 'site on a 56K dial-up connection?????

I just went as far as going into the photography site and letting the slideshow play with the accompanying music and I never hit any such road bumps. Lucky I guess, because I have to say in my humble opinion the whole package and presentation is sensationally tasteful without being overbearing and with the choice of music it actually moved me. And if the same gallery was on flickr or something, I would just look and think "oh, nice photographs" and likely move on...
