Default Hello from North County San Diego

Just found this forum looking for fine art photography on the web. Seems like there's a lot of very good work here.

I started photography about 12 years ago with a digital camera. I fell in love with it, and while everyone else was converting to digital, I bought a Mamiya 7ii. I spent 5 years with that camera, and it taught me a lot. Eventually, I tired of waiting a week to see my photos (and spending $2 each on them), and went back to digital. I have one Canon that has an infrared chip, and another newer Canon that I use for color and B&W.

My first love is abstract photography, especially of fractal patterns in the sand created by the tides. I have been on literally hundreds of beaches on the U.S. west coast, and the only ones that produce the patterns I shoot are right where I live. I've probably been to those 2 beaches 300 times over the past few years.

I've exhibited quite a bit over the years, but don't do that anymore -- too much of a hassle. For many years, I was represented by Ordover Gallery in San Diego, but now I mainly want to do it for my own enjoyment. I decided to make it easier for people to buy my work, so I set everything up on Shopify. If I don't sell anything, that's OK too.

I was away from photography for 5 years, helping my adult kids set up their business. Now it's operating on its own, so I can return to my true love.

    My web site is tomoscott.com.

Like I said in your other thread, welcome to the forum.

You have some amazing work there. It has a feeling of the same work as some of Marko's work (creator/admin of this site).

Thanks! Hope it's OK that I'm not from Canada!
I'm looking forward to viewing all the images here.

    Welcome again Tomscott!

Even if the best photographers ARE from Canada, everyone is welcome, even people from Louisiana

Haha, I don't want to get in the middle of this one! All I know is that when I was starting out, I was inspired by many photographers, including Freeman Patterson, a Canadian.

S'all playful around here - Lol.
Freeman Patterson Rocks. I've read a few books and seen some work up close. I've been on the lookout for his schedule to coincide with Montreal from time to time. So far no luck.
