First off, I'm new to photography, bought my Sony A57 in April this year.i have intermediate cinematography skill regarding lighting, composition and so on. I'm finding some tricks required with video cameras have to be learned differently on a DSLR or in my case SLT camera. Does this apply to lighting too?

When taking still images, will I get the same depth and dimension I get in video when I light in layers using continuous lights with various modifiers or should I be studying a whole new lighting practice? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

I like to set up my shots to require minimal Lightroom adjustments, is this a good practice when lighting a scene?

Thanks.
