Cracks in japan

Here's a video maybe you've seen it but it's weird to see the ground moving in different directions. Hearing lots of talk and banter about the possibility of a larger quake on the horizon in the very near future due to some triple tectonic plate fault line junction south of the recent large quake. Scientists have been saying that this would be the big one if it ever went off and they seem concerned now that the latest quake could have triggered it. I just checked and that area and indeed a 5.1 right in the zone where the three fault lines meet? I hope nothing becomes of it, those poor people have suffered enough!

The reclaimed land he was on has a lot of water in it. You could see the wave action of the ocean being carried through and spurting up through the ground. Even just plain dirt without bedrock holding it together basically liquifies as it is agitated in an earthquake. The dirt under his feet turns to mush and the only thing holding it together is the concrete and asphalt on top. Buildings, water, gas and sewer lines could easily collapse or rip. Certainly not a good place to be if aftershocks keep up at the pace and strength they are now. This is going to take years and years to recover from.

I would leave for higher ground were I in his shoes preferably on another continent! Literally hundreds of aftershocks following the 8.9, every time I check out USGS there's a new quake or series of in the area. Then of course there is the reactor problem but that is very hard to get an accurate handle on as almost everyplace I observe has a different report. Some sources say a meltdown has happened while others state the situation is being contained One thing seems clear to me though...If a comparable quake happens in the are in the next day or two and those reactors are not stabilized we could be in for some dire problems regarding radiation and jet streams not to mention total devastation for the local region. Of course that's worst case scenario and a hyper imagination on my part. Japan has faced many devastating quakes over the years, licked its wounds and carried on. Hopefully this will be the outcome of this disaster. Here in Vancouver we are reminded that our turn is coming just a question of when which is a sobering thought after viewing some of the video feeds from japan

I mentioned above about the concern over the triple plate junction south of the recent 9.0 in japan and have been following the quake maps and info sites since I found out about it. The swarm of aftershocks has been steadily moving south toward the triple plate and now there has been a 5.0 south of this area. From the data I've gathered, it is believed that there is a huge amount of pressure built up in the triple plate and the concern even before the 9.0 happened to the north that this area would produce a devastating quake at some time in the future.

Here we zoom in a bit and see the multitude of aftershocks. At the bottom of the image you can see the triple fault zone with a 5.1 right in that area.

If you scroll down in the last link you will see the new 5.0 south of the junction. I have been watching this area since the big one and it's spooky how the aftershocks have been steadily moving south daily. Hopefully it all blows over, pressures are released and it's smooth sailing from here on

Interestingly I'm getting a lot of noise about the relevance of the supermoon from around the web. It appears there are many who believe we won't be clear of bad quakes until somewhere after March 19. The link I'm putting up is a video clip I found regarding this idea but is not the only source from a theoretical standpoint. It seems that the closer moon can wreak havoc magnetically with the earth. Also a fair amount of talk about coronal mass ejections having some influence. The latter idea I've been keeping an eye on and there does seem to be some truth to it but I'd need way more time and significant quakes to say it was tied in for sure. The latest CME's do seem to correlate with quake activity but without long term study, it could also be mere coincidence.
