Andrew, loves playing on my drum kit, so it seemed like an ideal way to get him to sit still(ish) on a stool while I could have a play with some more lighting. I think this is my favourite shot out of the ones I got.
This is a discussion on The drummer within the People photography (portraits, sports etc.) forums, part of the Show your photo (Color) - Landscape & Nature (flowers, mountains, storms etc.) category; Andrew, loves playing on my drum kit, so it seemed like an ideal way to get him to sit still(ish) ...
Love the capture of the expression, so full of life, and the processing is excellent. Well done Richard.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
That is fabulous! What an expression! Very Norman Rockwellish in spirit and style.
Fantastic expression on his face. Love this one.
Maybe you've covered this before but you always have a great solid background. Are you shooting in a studio?
Thanks guys,
The set-up is a large 5 in 1 reflector (white side facing camera) hanging on an old mic stand. I then have 1 flash lighting the reflector, and another 2 flashes with umbrella lighting Andrew from the front.
It's similar to this lighting I used for unplugged:
but the reflector hung on the mic stand, and the umbrella's pulled back a bit.
I would love to get some seamless paper at some point and have ago at doing more than just a head and shoulders shot.
