Certainly these are an improvement on last years set. Much sharper than previous. Getting low like you have makes such a difference.

I know it is often very hard or near impossible to do with kids sports, but choosing a spot with a clean or uniform background will lift sports shots immensely. That is something I have been trying to work on too myself (without total success).

I think I mentioned it before but if you can check out Big Lens Fast Shutter podcast. These guys are fairly opinionated and are brutal in their critique but give excellent advice IMO

Now in shot 3 if you just dropped the ISO ........................... (just kidding).

As an aside my son has just switched from playing football (for 10 years) to basketball, so I have new sport to learn to shoot this year. (maybe a good excuse for a faster lens??)
