    Default Super Girl

She told me she was checking inside the flowers for bees, I guess someone's gotta do it? I like the way the background seems to swirl around the subject. I'm not sure if I'd have preferred her face to be un-hidden by her hair. I dislike that I got a bit of my leg in the foreground, though it's not particularly noticeable. Also I'm not very happy with the quality after re-sizing. Thanks for looking!Name: _MG_3044 (Custom).JPG

I would have never realized your leg in the image, so no problems there. The problem is it is under exposed, flat, and majorly cropped. (you can tell it is majorly cropped due to the extreme "boxing" of the bokah of the background) I have no issue with the missed face because the action is in her hands, so this should have been your focal point. Her supergirl outfit should jump off the page due to the extreme contrast of color compared to the rest of the image, but it does not. If you have Lightroom, you can use the brush with the skin softening selected, and iron out some of the wrinkles in her dress.

You are right the lighting could certainly be better, and would make her pop more. What do you mean by cropped and "boxing" of the bokeh? This image is not cropped (I'd have removed my leg if it was). Maybe you mean the re-sizing? Which I've already mentioned as being problematic. I think that you are on to something with the smoothing of the wrinkles, normally I'd say that's unnecessary because it pulls the image away from reality, but in this case with a Super Girl, we're already so far from reality that it makes sense, I'll play with it a little and repost.

I'm sorry, I thought you meant it was cropped. The bokah looks funny to me. I thought this was due to the cropping, I guess it is just me. If this is shot in RAW, you should easily increase the exposure.

I like the concept of this image VERY much, but unfortunately the execution fell short.

I'm not sure if I'd have preferred her face to be un-hidden by her hair.
This IS the issue - Because she is not looking at us, AND her face is hidden so we can't even see a contemplative pose - we feel almost no connection to her. You shot her from the 'closed' angle - you needed to be on her right side to shoot the open angle.

All the other issues (colour, light, foot etc.) fall secondary to this main point - so for me, this is a redo.
    Hope that may help

You already got some good things to work on from Marko and AT but I'll add in a couple of comments as well.

1 - Good on ya for getting down to her level. By being low and looking up you've given her a larger than life feel which suits the outfit.
2 - You caught an awesome moment. Without her face, it's hard to tell, but I've seen enough kids to know that she was totally focused on what she was doing and that was the moment to capture.

I'm sure you'll have many opportunities to capture more images of this super cutie so keep shooting and think about the things AT and Marko already suggested.

I love the help, thank you all! I have to get better at forming the image on the fly; these moments are so incredibly fleeting.

theantiquetiger - I think the bokeh is wierd is partly due to the compression (it looks much smoother in RAW) and also just the way the background is.
Marka - I see what you mean, thank you.
Iguanasan - There is one image where that intensity is visible, though her eyes seem shut because she's looking down. You can't control Super Girl!
