    Looks better to me (I can see more of the rope and the wrangler's legs which are good lines to my eye)...... but for me, still dark- Personally I don't see how this deliberate darkening PP adds to the scene.
    If it were mine I'd still bump it up to see more details in the ground, the calf and the wrangler's jeans.

    OR - I'd burn DOWN the wrangler's hat and shirt in post 1. Then I'd bump up the contrast/brightness a wee bit (especially on the calf's face) and it might have a Rembrandt painting feel.
