My mistake has been seeking new landscapes. I should have been seeking new light.

For me shot 1 is the better photograph but the family will likely prefer shot 2.

*LOL* DARN IT !!! That is why I come here !!! Maybe to confirm what I think I already know...

The second images was taken first.

The first images is showing the true love and connection between a father and his daughter as the mother smiles.

I am going to present the family with a 16X20 so I was really torn between an image that tells a story or one with happy faces *L*

Thanks for taking time to comment

    No prob.
at 16x20 shot 2 is a better choice as the baby is quite soft in shot 1. family should be very happy with this.

I have to agree. Shot #2 to show their faces and smiles. Very cute family! Lovely colors through out the photo!

I'd print both. Give them shot one first, if they frown, whip out shot two I''m with Marko on both points.

I think the better exposure and the smiling faces in shot 2 will win them over. If shot 1 was brighter around the fathers head I'd have gone for that one also but for me shot 2 is the better shot exposure wise at least. The look on the baby's face is better also in shot 2 imo.
