Good stuff so far everyone....I'm still trying to find a subject. Right now I've almost convinced my lens-hood-fishing spouse to don his biker duds and pose on the H-D but we haven't got that far yet. Hopefully this weekend maybe, possibly!

Great stuff! Casil, that almost sounds kinky!
This one was tough, First I had to run with f8 on that one to keep the depth of field wide enough to catch the face and the wings in focus but of course that made the background too sharp. Then getting the flash heads set correctly so enough light passed through the wings to light the face but not to blow out the details in the wings was also hard. I couldn't light the face directly from her front because there was a wall 1 foot outside the frame on the right hand side, so I ended up running 2 flash's for the wings and face, 1 set higher than the camera set to 1/2 power and 1 almost at floor level pointing up set to 1/16 power.
This was actually a shoot at a costume party at a bar, so I had limited space. http://www.deviantdonkey.info/v1/gal...0_img_4317.jpg
As you can see (Ignore my pouty wife) other than 4 feet in front of where I am shooting I was setup in a corner and about 3 inches outside of the frame were walls. I hate getting squished like that!!
I do agree though and in retrospect I should have done a few closeup shots. Not sure why I didn't other than it was probably 1:00 am by the time this one was shot. I ink this is one of those images that needs additional post work, but I didn't get paid enough to do that, so they get what they get. :evil2:
Sheesh... :headslap: I'm glad you clarified that was your wife in that last shot...from that Burning Man self portrait over in GP I thought that might also be another portrait of you!......I was going to add that "My Gawd you make a handsome woman" JT....lol.....;)
This is attempt 1. Just a shot I took today with the assignment in mind. I liked the patterned background, softened with DOF.
Are group(family) portraits acceptable?

I guess that would depend on if they are humans or not.:D
Jello - I really like that 2nd shot of your 'pouty' wife - great costume and expression!
Antz - Sure you can shoot family - no problem. Very cute kid shot! What great eyes and hair!
