What is the photo assignment for June? Any idea's?.....
How about your neighbourhood? or something like that, just an idea.
I like that idea A.L. !
Can we get a couple of others to second that or third it or add another suggestion?
Thx
Marko
I'll second that. It sounds very straightforward. :)
Tegan
I'm in for anything...
neighborhood sounds good - i just had surgery, so comething close to home works well for me!
So sorry to hear, hope it went well and your recovery is quick.Quote:

Thanks for the idea Acadie Libre!
Who is going to post first? :D
Hope your surgery went well A.L!
Ok I'll go first
anything here?
i just took this in my backyard today - my backyard is technically in my 'neighborhood', right? :p
surgery did go ok, thank you for asking, but im not up to walking too far just yet. that and i really liked this shot - those are my reasons for choosing this to post.
i'll venture down my block later this week and get something more.... :)
Woops sorry Kiley, I thought A.L. had the surgery - hope you are feeling better.
I like the way the plant looks like a heart. A bit of cropping here might help the shot. What is the background, is it the sky?
thanks marko - im feeling much better the past couple days.
the picture is of a tree branch, that i actually turned 90 degrees, so it would look more like a heart. it went out to the side originally. the background is the sky. i had to edit some other leaves & flowers out of the one side, by cloning the sky, to make it look more cleanly like a heart. how would you suggest cropping it? i have about 3 other shots like this, that are untouched, that i could play around with more...
I would take a fair amount off the top since it just looks like blank space.Quote:

Just so you know, I thought you may have brought this inside and shot it against a blue wall - I think if you try this again, try and get some clouds in the background which will make the shot even more interesting.
Hope that helps,
Marko
Or, of course, you could always add the sky in later in Photoshop or a similar program and cropping should be done with care, since nothing should be too close to the frame.Quote:

i guess the blank blue background does make it a little simple, but sometimes simplicity is a good thing, right? if i took the top portion down a bit, would that help for the lack of clouds? i think the sunlight on the petals & leaves makes it look outdoors-y, but i can see how you may think it was taken against a blue wall. thanks for the input!Quote:

Basic & simple, since I'd be totally new to it... and if I'm adding in white clouds, how would I be able to keep the white petals clearly? Since I'd probably not crop it then, and add the clouds into the top & some behind the branches.Quote:

On your sky image use freehand select to outline the approximate amount of sky and clouds that you will need in the flower shot. Chose copy selection in the pulldown menu. Click on your flower image and using freehand select outline the sky. Go back to the edit menu and chose PASTE INTO (or it might say paste into selection) The sky selection from one photo will then be pasted into the sky of the flower photo.Quote:

I really like this shot - my only comment would be that the Interesting flowering tree in the foreground seems to be stealing the show.:D
Thanks Marko. This is a 2 minute walk from where I live. Taken with a 5 megapixel pocket camera.

Hi Kingbee, welcome!
I think this is a really cool shot and wow your neighborhood is so different from mine.
I like the angle on this shot very much.
In order to make the shot even stronger, I might suggest burning in the clouds at the top of the photo a bit more (especially the top left edge)
Thanks for posting!
Marko
This one ought to be a ton of fun having just relocated; of course, it means making sure that everything I want is unpacked ;) Stay tuned for picks
My June photo has no technical redeeming qualities.. i know this so don't bother... but... my cotig is five minutes from my house... and this is the view nestled away from the mosquitoes in the screen room.... facing west...
It's different so I like it...
I'll post some better sunset pictures in the future... this is 12mm fun too me...
Your cottage certainly has a great and beautiful view.
Tegan
I agree this is a gorgeous view and the central part of the shot looks like a painting.
thank you... I think this what attracted my to this poorly composed frame... the center view does play off as a framed painting....
This is about a 10 - 15 minute walk from my place, where they park and service some of the TTC Streetcars. I figure I should add something before the month is up lol ...

i like the old one in the middle.....
this is the east end by the beaches?
Yea so do I have some shots that have them in the front but I took this photo a few days ago so why I am using it. And yes it is, I live the Beach.Quote:

I am not far from there and endz and the rest of the places are alive and well. I live east of South East of Waverly, you can see the lake from my house. All I can say is when I bought 13 years ago I got in at the right time, prices after that just went through the roof.
On my short walk to the university...

I like this shot AcadieLibre - good lines and compostion!
welcome Valorin! - This is an excellent shot of your neighbourhood - well done!
marko
Valorin what did you shoot with? Must be a long short walk just to get by that field. Kelowna very nice place, well thats from a 20 year old recollection of it lol. Spent several months there so have some recollection of it.
And thanks Marko, just one of those places I shoot almost anytime I walk by, the Street cars are usually in some different configuration.
It takes me about 7 minutes to walk from my place to my office at the university, all along a country road. Quite a nice walk in the morning and evening I assure you.
It was taken with a Canon 5D using a Nikon 50mm f/1.2 lens. Could have gotten the same shot with my D200, but that's what I had with me that day.
Thanks for the kind comments.
