Default May 2010 - Photography assignment - Vintage

I know it's early but I thought I would throw it out there:

    Ideas anyone?

Beginnings and Endings -up to you to define what either of those are.
Depth of field (shallow or deep) and bokeh
    Minimalism
    Reflections
transportation modes - if it gets you there it gets you in here!
Slow/fast shutter speeds - play with your shutter.

    That's all I got...lol.

April showers bring May flowers...or is everyone sick of flower shots? I know that I am not yet.

In Canada May brings us Victoria Day. Maybe something "Victorian"? Architecture, furniture, someone named Victoria?

I like all of these ideas. Another one that's been percolating in my brain is photos that show off your area. Ones the could be in a tourism magazine or ones that show the darker side of your area.

Flowers is a good idea but I don't want to do seasons as we have people who's seasons are opposite to us.

"May I" something you have to ask to photograph.

That would certainly make it challenging for some of us!

"May I" would be a challenge.

Adding to the list, found objects. I'm thinking of the stuff I find washed up after the spring runoff. You wonder why people were wearing some of the things I find.

or why they took them off!

I forgot to post in my list of ideas "Repeating Patterns" also....just remembered now.

    Abstract
    Overexposure
    Graffiti
    Motion

Well, architectural fragments but I do that all the time anyway, so why not portraits in landscape or horizontal orientation? That is something that you have to ask for. (May I?) Plus portraiture is very challenging.

I think that in honour of our own Greg Nuspl turning 50 we should do a 'vintage' theme. It could be done either via treatment or subject matter.

    OOOOOH I like that one!
    I vote that!

I like the ode to Greg's 50th, vintage idea as well

If we do vintage..can anyone do up a post on techniques.

I for one..have no clue how to do that effect.

But... I've always wanted to learn how..

WB marko..i gather you had a great time off. :P

Well that must mean I'm getting better with age like a fine wine, or just rusting out a creaking at the joints.

Being new here I am not sure what you have done but how about having the assignment theme be WATER. There is lots to play with from bubbles, reflections, dynamics of water in mid-air(sprinklers, or dogs shaking off water) to the different look of wet objects/scenes. Of course, we can also play with longer exposures, and lighting. Plus it might just be that excuse to get out on that rainy day :P

We had water so many times...
We need to start challenge us more.

    Vintage it's a nice idea.

    Vintage is a nice idea....

    how about food?

Vintage sounds good and btw happy birthday Greg!

I guess I can submit a self portrait
I'm thinking "vintage" is the winner this month.
I'm looking forward to this one.

I am thinking "vintage" pretty much gives us carte blanche to torment Greg for a whole month so why not? We did do nostalgia last May, however.

Tormenting would be a funny assignment ;-) - I'll go with vintage too!

woo hoo! I'm in! Perhaps Greg could start us off with a self-portrait

I kinda like the darker side of where you live
