Perfect timing.. I'll have to have a listen tonight. I'm in need of a new tripod!![]()
start saving now....
You are still young so the expensive tripod that you should buy might well last you forever....and it will be a pleasure to use instead of a chore to lug around.

great podcast. I was surprised to hear that photos taken at 1/250 sec also are affected with a tripod, but it makes sense to me.
The biggest problem I have had with tripods was quick deployment of tripods and started researching Manfrottoo's Neotec Tripod. Is it upto snuff?
I like your idea about choosing the tripod based on your height for quick deployment. I am roughly 5'6" and an generalist too. may be I could use the height you choose too!
just letting you know I linked the podcast in my latest blog post about shooting waterfalls. Smoke On the Water « Wicked Dark Photography
No prob WD.
Did I say 1/250? i thought i said 1/125.great podcast. I was surprised to hear that photos taken at 1/250 sec also are affected with a tripod, but it makes sense to me.

1/250 should eliminate most shake on shorter lenses but not longer ones. Just do a test to compare - you'll see tripod shots are sharper.
The legs on most Gitzos are super fast to open and close!
