    Default starshine

starlight and the Milky Way (sort of) over Mt Rainier, WA. my lens isn't quite fast enough, and my poor ol' 5D isn't as clean at high ISO as the newer models, but i wasn't too unhappy with this one... 17-35 lens @ 21mm, 25 sec @ f/3.5, ISO 3200...

Wow, your shots of that mountain keep outdoing themselves. This is lovely. What causes the glow on the horizon? Thanks for sharing. Mike

Way cool! I really need to get away from the city some night and check out the stars... you just can't see them like that in town.

    Thanks, everyone!

Mike, the glow is the light from the city of Tacoma, about 40 miles to the NW... it's hard to get completely away from light pollution in this part of the country, even way up in the hills! it's not terribly obvious to the naked eye, but the cumulative effect is quite visible in a long exposure like this.

Nothing wrong with that at all Starshine, very nice shot. You really lived up to your "nick" in this one.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

I suspected as much. It adds to the shot IMO, sort of framing the mountain and blending into the stars. It's a nice color of gold. Mike
