    Default "Zen"

this shot reminds me of the Japanese zen gardens, where they have rocks stuck in the middle of an open space of carefully raked gravel or sand... only this one is in water! 5D (before it died) and 24-135 (before IT died), 135mm, 4 sec @ f/13, with polarizer...

Very nice colors in here. How did your camera die?

the shutter started acting up... about once every 8 or 10 frames, the mirror would snap up, but nothing else happened, no image, and i'd have to press the shutter button to get the mirror back down again. i sent it in to the repair center yesterday, so hopefully they can fix it without breaking the bank!

the 24-135 - which has been my landscape workhorse for the past 5 years - started giving me "err 01" messages and telling me to clean the contacts, which of course didn't help. the 40D works fine with my 17-35 and 100-400L, so i'm assuming the 24-135 has "issues"... i'm gonna have to suck it up and buy a new one, if i can find it... they quit making those a couple of years ago, so i may have to settle for a used one...

You're right about the Japanese garden. I've seen them done a few times exactly like your very nice shot of the rock in the water. On the lens problem, it might be worth the postage or trip to the camera shop to send it in for an estimate to repair. It could be something minor and come back fixed.

It is a very relaxing and calming image. Well done!

Nice shot Squirl. I like the earthy colour palette.
