really? weird. it was a bit yellowish due to clouds, but not like there was smoke in the air or anything.
the walls are just the result of the effort to clear the land for farming. they weren't parts of buildings or anything. The Pleistocene glaciers kicked up the earth and left huge granite deposits near the surface. they also occasionally dropped enormous boulders the size of houses and even larger, called glacier erratics. the topsoil here and in eastern Canada is extremely rocky.
