Was walking along the beach, Miracle Beach on Vancouver Island. Nice driftwood, some interesting rocks, grass, and OOOOOOPS, almost stepped on it. Good thing that my surprise did not result in soiled underwear ...

Yes, shot 2 is the winner here... I wonder now who can tell us what kind of snake it is?

Just a guess, but maybe a Northwestern Garter Snake? I also really love the composition in shot #2. The first shot would have worked better for me if the snake had not been centred so I would have had to look harder to find it.

I was thinking Garter too. they are quite benign (unless they are nesting) but they do a lot of good. I'd love to have one live under my deck. Shot 2 is terrific. lots of detail and action.
