This is the view from the pass between the two valleys. We are above the treeline.

This is the range to the left different view. The images are just off PTGui so I'll be tweaking them soon as I have time.

A few more shots from the hike. I wish this work thing didn't have to interfere with processing images.

Some great shots there Greg. I went out to Peter Lougheed in Kananaskis a few weeks ago and took quite a few shots like this, mostly with an ultra wide lens, but also a few of a waterfall using a CPL and ND filter. And I was kind of underwhelmed in the results when I got into the "digital darkroom". I attributed my disappointment to the light. The blue sky is beautiful but the harsh light isn't. The terms "golden hour" and "magic hour" keep getting driven into my brain, but I'm doomed because I'm not much of a morning person and I don't like long highway drives at night. Plus I have young kids (less freedom, more responsibility). I think many of my further from home photography tours will have to include hotel lodging from now on. Just a question, was the photo in #2 a stitched panorama shot, or just cropped wide? If panorama, how many shots were stitched together?

1 is just over 180 degrees & 2 is about 150 degrees both are stitched my widest is an 18mm on a D80. I've just gone through these real quick so they are rough.
