    I think, MA, it's because the reflections of the lake are gone..frozen lake shot doesn't seem to measure up.

    You're wrong. Very wrong. To those of us who never see frozen lakes ... this is very cool. The texture of the snow in that side lighting also works very well. This IS a nice shot!
