Sea Hare in the Rock Pools

    Default Sea Hare in the Rock Pools

    We found these two little guys in the rock pools at Coolum beach. They are Sea hares and are related to Mollusks and Octopuses.

    This one was about 150mm (6 inch) ...





    And this little guy was only about 100mm (4 inch) ...

    Shot 2 is my favourite here as you can see him much better with the contrasting background. Nice set.

    Thanks Iggy and Casil.

    They are cool little guys ... just quietly going about their business.

    I know they have them in the USA waters so I'm guessing they are also in Canada as well although maybe it's too cold up there?

    I worked as a research assistant in University. In one of my jobs I helped out in the oceanography lab (the professor I worked for was studying the mating habits of amphipods). Anyway, there was a tank with critters that looked a lot like these only they were a solid colour.

    Very cool captures MA. as was said, thanks for sharing something that many of us will never have a chance to see.
    Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
