    Is the first one sitting on an egg sac? I wouldn't want to meet any of these if I were a bug!

    Yes, second one is a Wolf Spider, Trochosa genus, and yes, the first one is carrying an egg sac, it's a Wolf Spider too, Pardosa genus.
