    Default Little More Winter Colour

Went out to photograph a Varied Thrush which has a range from Alberta to the West. This one has been at a couples house only 45 minutes from home, but alas it was too crowded as most local birders know of location. Will try again another time.
This is all I got today. Oh well, love the colour of these too.

Your bird photos today are very sharp and up close. You have a good variety of birds to go after. What lens are you using? Are these birds accustomed to people getting close?

Thank you Casil, and yes, I still think for such an abundant bird that many take for granted, they are still amazingly beautiful.
Thank you Andrew. These shots were all taken from approx. 30-40 ft. away from subject. I am using a Canon 1DMkIV with a #300mm F2.8L with a 2x teleconverter, off and on. Also use a 500mm F4L with a 1.4x Teleconverter, off and on, with a second 1DMkIv. (Just waiting for the new Mkiii teleconverters to come in stock so I can get them). Just getting used to the new cameras actually. Have only been out a few times with them.
These are birds at a feeder, but they are very wary, as in quite wild yet. This feeder is at a house and some of the others are just out on a country rd. in the middle of nowhere. We dress in camo, have camo pop-up blinds, camo lens-coats etc. Will have to take a pic. of rigs some day. (Actually looking at ghillies suits also)
