    Default Dinner time for preying mantis.

    These pics aren't for the squeamish.

    The beetle or whatever it was, climbed up the back of the preying mantis. The preying mantis stood absolutely still until the bug got high enough that it could reach around and grab it. That was all she wrote for the bug. Nothing was left of it inside of 5 minutes.

    These pics were shot with a Canon 100mm macro lens with Kenko extension tubes on a Canon 50D.

    very cool close-ups. I know these are so difficult. Just curious, do you have any with the Mantis's eyes tack sharp? I like the sharp prey shots mind you. The 3rd and 4th ones look like something out of Aliens 3.

    Amazing set Mike. Really nicely done.
    Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

    Marko, here is one with the eyes sharper. The second one was of a different mantis though.
