Default What a wonderfull bird is the Pelican

His beak holds more food than his belly can
He can stuff in his beak
    Enough food for a week
I wonder how the hell he can?

Went to Wyndham-Carseland Provincial Park on a lark. Found out there are a pile of Pelicans there, mainly because of the weir, methinks. They sit there waiting for the fish to flip up, so it seems ... anyway, here's a bunch of them

During the breeding period they develop this funny "rudder" on their beaks ... and I though this was to keep them straight while flying ...

    There's four of them

    This one's taking off ...

this one shows me how much he/she thinks of me ...

    incoming ....

    Just cruisin' .....

    checking for supper ....

just wanna see if I can get my belly wet ....

Nice set Matt. Really likin' the take-off, but that head-on shot is awesome. Well done on all. Btw, really like the narrative also.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Nice find. I like the group shot and the second last in-air shot. Very stately birds for being so awkward looking.
