    Default Eastern Kingbird

Tried out my new teleconverter, the Nikon TC 17E II in conjunction with my 300mm f4 Nikon prime. I am not convinced that this is a good combination., This image was taken with ISO 250, @ f8 and 1/400 handheld. So yes, I am sure camera shake is partially responsible for the softness of the image. Since my Gimbal head has not arrived yet, I will wait and see if this makes a difference, doubt it, though. I guess I need to put my pennies aside for a 600mm f4 or a 400mm f2.8. That should take me no longer than a couple of decades ..... meanwhile, here is the kingbird, almost 100% crop.

Nothing wrong with that Matt. Very nicely done.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Looks pretty good to me. When I look at HGB's shots (or a lot on this forum) I'm like you, it make me want to weep. There are two ways I can think of it. I can either get discouraged (and a few times I have to admit I've felt that way) or think positive and use other's great pictures as a goal to try and achieve.
