Default Juvies are on the Loose!

My yard is like a war zone at the moment with all the juvies flying around. Just thought I would share some of my first images of juveniles for this year. The adult male that the majority of my images are of, is so comfortable with me taking pictures that I don't really get many dramatic poses from him. On the other hand the juveniles are great for capturing some of the acrobatic poses.

All images were taken with a Canon 7D, 400mm F/5.6 at F18, SS 1/250 (max sych), ISO 500, 4 off camera flashes on Manual at 1/32 power.

Here is what is likely my last images of the adult male that I will be sharing for the year. Unless of course he finishes the molt before heading south.

And here are some of the juveniles.

Excellent hummingbird shots, Mike! I had to nominate that second one.

Some great - nay - SUPERB shots Mike. I really like the 2nd and 3rd ones. I think I shall need to experiment a bit with off-camera flashes - I like how it lightens up the otherwise shadowy portions of the images.

Quite amazing, indeed ... musta been some setup, with four flashes. I was wondering how you could stop the wing action with 1/250 of a second, but the flashes definitely would help in that. Very nice work.
