Pied-Billed Grebe

    Got this tiny little one last week at the marsh. One of our smallest waterfowl actually, and very timid.

    I am amazed at the degree of sharpness with ISO800 on this one. My D300s would not give me that, for sure ... and that 600mm sure comes in handy, huh? Love the sharp eye and that little whatever it is peeking out from the water ... almost looks like a periscope from an alien miniature submarine

    Another great shot as usual HBG. Great sharpness and I love the setting with all the lily pads (or whatever they are)

    Thanks all. They really are a challenging subject to shoot as they are only approx. 12 inches in length, and dive at the slightest sign of danger.
    Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

    The Grebe's here are exactly the same. I'm yet to get a good shot of one so I know how well you've done here!
