    Default Up Close and Personal

    This is a Pileated Woodpecker. A somewhat elusive woodpecker that is the size of a Crow. This one was at the side of the road on a tree at window level so slowed down to a crawl and edged up to within 30 ft for this one shot out car window.

    Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

    "somewhat elusive " is a understatement, the only pics I can get of this guy's, is that of their handy work....well done

    Great shot love how they laugh at ya when they fly away I've chased them all over Kearney with no results )

    Probably wouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear the we see these all the time around here. The casual observer might mistake them for the Ivory Bill and the last I heard a shot like this of the believed extinct bird would be worth a cool million. Head south, HBG…you may get lucky.
