    Default Up Close and Personal

This is a Pileated Woodpecker. A somewhat elusive woodpecker that is the size of a Crow. This one was at the side of the road on a tree at window level so slowed down to a crawl and edged up to within 30 ft for this one shot out car window.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Probably wouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear the we see these all the time around here. The casual observer might mistake them for the Ivory Bill and the last I heard a shot like this of the believed extinct bird would be worth a cool million. Head south, HBGyou may get lucky.
