    Default Fighting Pheasants

Today we came across these 2 male Ringneck Pheasants fighting in a field...they are pretty shy so we couldn't get too close but we got to just watch them for a good 5 minutes before I scared them off by trying to get out of the car...damn....!
Sheesh I wish they were sharper too and I was better at photography because I'll probably never see anything like this again...!

Lol, those are cool! Mike Drew of the Calgary Sun was interviewed by the Canada's Outdoor Photography magazine and one of the things he mentioned was that birds do not seem to be frightened of stopped vehicles so you can use your car or truck as a 'blind' to photograph birds from the road. Your stepping out of the car and accidently scaring them off just reminded me of that.

Thanks Raiven ...I wish I knew that beforehand as it was really quite something to watch these 2 sparring and I would have liked to see how long it went on and could've improved the shots..... !

Funny, Mike an I always seem to run across something when we go out. In Tofino we were eating sushi and 4 bald eagles decided to spar right in front of us while we were eating. they would dive at each other and at the last second turn towards each other, talon to talon and fight while diving to the ground....it was really quite something and I had no camera.

Another time a pair of seagulls were fighting over some salmon heads and guts right in front of us while we were having lunch. While they were fighting, a bald eagle swooped down and stole half their dinner, then a family of otters (4) came in and stole the other half. It was pretty comical to watch and reminded me of Nemo and the gulls with the "MINE!....MINE"!...again no camera!

Now I pretty much take a camera whenever we go out in case we run into shots like these.
