    Default Birding Blues

Been trying to get out for spring birding, but not much luck lately. Did manage a few mediocre shots, and a rare sight also.

    Red-Bellied Woodpecker

    Hooded Mergansers

This is a rare sight. Pair of geese are nesting in a hollow in a dead tree. This is approx. 35 ft. up, beside a river. The goose is sitting on the nest inside the dead tree behind this Gander.

And lastly, for those that think bigger is always better, not always. This is what happens when you have a 500mm lens on and they fly 40 ft. right above your head. No matter how you hold it, it ain't gonna fit.
( This would be why I am picking up a 300mm F2.8L tomorrow)

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Great shots all in my opinion. Thanks for the mini lesson in lens range. Interesting picture nonetheless.
    Happy birding.

Until I came to ph.ca I thought Woodpeckers were 1 type of bird. I didn't realize there were so many of them. And here's another! Very cool.

    Nice little set of shots.
