    Default Coyote

This is the mangiest coyote I think I have ever seen....I took this shot hand led while actually riding my bike in FCP. One hand on the handlebars...the other holding the K7 and going a decent speed on the trails. All this at the same time without falling which is pretty impressive considering the clutz that I am.

I felt sorry for the poor guy as you can see it's pretty much bald from mange. I don't know how it managed to survive the winter with barely any fur. It was trying to scare up some geese when I saw it then it took off after spotting me coming with the bike.

The coyotes around here are taking over. The government is paying $20 a pelt to trim the population down. Apparently, they're hunting grounds are getting closer and closer to town and some schools. Likely because town and the schools were built in their hunting grounds but most people blame the animals not the idiots who moved into the neighbourhood.

In Calgary we have learned to live with them....I saw one hunting rabbits last week in the cemetery. Ours are usually quite timid of humans. Every once in a while you hear about brave ones, but they are usually young and/or humans have fed them so they have lost their fear .
I just couldn't believe the poor state of this one though...one of the worst cases of mange I have ever seen.

    That's a lucky shot!

You can be happy to have still so much wildlife there. You have problems with too much - we are really excited here, that maybe.... very maybe the wolf could come back in our region! So far there were only some tracks seen.

Wow, definitely a good capture in the circumstances.
Yes, definitely hard to believe it survived the winter. Only way would be, if it had an underground den, I would guess.
No matter how much some hate them, I hate seeing an animal suffer such as this one will, possibly for a long time.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
