These two belong to the flycatcher family. It is amazing to watch these little guys dart from the tops of the trees and pick off bugs.

Eastern kingbirds are so fun to watch. Occasionally a pair nests at the top of a lodgepole pine in the front yard and I watch them from the hammock in back. It's great. For some weird reason we don't get phoebes. Your portrait is good, showing the yellow underbelly.

Thanks for the compliment Marko, and I hear ya' on the patience there. Not to mention all the muddy, dirty clothes to wash.
We spent 7 hrs. and over 300 shots combined on Sunday, and wound up with 9 keepers overall, and huge blood loss from the blackflies.
    Yeah, this is fun, .

I concur with Marko, and with you. Birds seem to have an instinct that tells them when you have your camera ready for the shot: cause that is the instance they take off! So shots like these are indeed the fruits of patience. Blackflies you say? Try mosquitoland for a change

We actually live smack dab in the centre of 500+ acres of bush/swamp, that starts just 30 yards from our bedroom window, so mosquitoes are an everyday way of life for us.

Mosquitos and I do not get along at all. Must be Karma. They see me comming and they gather for the feast. "Off" for them is like BBQ sauce, I suppose.
