    Default Another attempt at swallows

I'm still obviously nuts. Let me set the scene. This is what the day looked like. It was also windy enough that the swallows were the only bird that could fly. And they were loving it.

Most of my shots were by the river, standing on a patch of land that had been under water just a day ago. You can see the waves. Some of them were skipping off them, I think for the fun of it.

I have shots of barn swallows and violet-green swallows. The latter lives in riparian habitat. There were a few tree swallows, too, but I didn't get anything worth saving of them. These birds obviously have never heard of speed limits. I did better this time. I was closer to the action, and I had the ISO bumped up. Some of the ones on the river flew over my head a handful of times. I need to anticipate them when they do that. But you can see more than a bird shaped blur. Now they're just really fuzzy birds (mostly). If I ever have a lighter day, I might actually get something better. And I still had a blast.

I would have to say pretty darn good, considering the conditions, especially.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
