    Default 19th Century Luxe

My husband has a knack of finding us great hotels. This one was a gentlemen's club in the 19th century and is in downtown Seattle. The Arctic Club was for men involved in the Klondike Goldrush business and when that ran its course was an independent, but fairly exclusive hotel. Now the Arctic Club Hotel operates under the Doubletree brand. The lobby is one of the best I've seen. It really makes you want to sit and chat with your fellow guests, with a martini of course. I'm really glad we stayed here. When my husband was sorting out various cars with the concierge, I went from chair to chair with the camera, trying to see if I could at all capture the atmosphere. Eh...I sort of did.

The bar is pretty darn great and Viktor can not only make you an excellent martini, but can do both the Czech and French methods of absinthe preparation. Unfortunately the samovar-like apparatus wasn't on the bar when I took this.

If we ever go back to Seattle, we'll definitely think about staying here again. Oh and that sign in the middle shot says No Minors. No Firearms. A common theme in many hotels and restaurants and sort of adds to the old west feel.

thanks guys. It was a really big room and tough to dissect, but I tried. Was bummed there was a bunch of folks hanging out by the huge fireplace and so I didn't shoot it.

Cool series, Wicked. It's kind of an Arts and crafts style building, it looks like. Very nice!
