Default What would you do with a perforated piece of metal?

I found this cut-out of who knows what. It's a piece of perforated metal, about 6" in diameter. So I was bored again. Had to take some images of it. What amazed me was how the different poses made me take a double look: I knew what I was taking an image of, but the old brain gets fooled once in a while, and not everything appears as it should. Please don't ask me: W H Y ?????

So I elevated it with the help of three pencils. Put a tea light on it. Put two tea lights under it. Then I extinguished the top tea light. This is why I call this one:

"The last breath of the tea light"

Then I got the macro lens out. Damn thing does not have a manual focus override, which is a nuisance, if you ask me. Great lens, but you try and focus in low light with it So here is the next one:

    "No 5 - Weird Surface"

Was going to make this a survey: What is it? Found a sparkler lying around the house, thought I should try and use it. So this one is:

    Could it be Welding?

So then I took images from the side .. experimented with light. I like this one, because it looks like a pile of wedding bands.

    Wedding ring, anyone?

And finally, how it all started:

    "The Poor Man's Stove"

Matt you're starting to bug me, your creativity is getting too good and making me look more like a point and shoot guy......wait a minute I am

Nice stuff there Matt, the 'welding' shot looks industrial if you know what I mean.

What he said! If I found that same piece of metal, looks like a punch out from something, I'd of thought, this is cool and then thrown it in the garbage

You, instead, come up with all this awesomeness. Very cool.

Love it! Metal is so much fun to work with. I did a similar shoot using light and the inside of a cheese grater.

#3 for me please. Love the abstract quality of all of them but the light in the background in 3 does it for me.

Cool set! I especially like the one with the sparkler. I thought I replied here days ago actually.
