I love exploring graveyards and had quite a few shots from Calgary years ago. I posted some photos here a year ago of one down the street from where we were staying at the time. I find lots of history in old graveyards and look up the stories of the residents once in awhile. This is one of the originals in the area and there are many names that now live on in roads, parks, buildings, etc. Even found the background of the first police officer killed in the city. One I posted that struck home was a single grave that marked a man who passed away and his wife who followed him within a month. I envy some of you in the eastern provinces and states who have another hundred years or so of history to rely on. Europe would be something else wouldn't it??

Ditto on the envy. And Europe, yes, that would be something. Along with portions of Asia and the Middle East - any place that's had enough of a metropolitan area for a long time.

Very nice set QO. I also love the history and the calm of the ancient cemeteries. They have so much character to them also.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Thanks, Marko and HBG. Marko, your fave was an obvious one to try and do something with, between the heavy overcast, snow and the color of the marker. The snow isn't actually very deep. It's a marker rather than a full stone. HBG, if you've visited very old cemeteries, you're one up on me and I'm envious. I haven't had the opportunity.
