    I do like the light in this, Ed; However, I am not sure where you wanted to go with this? It looks like you wanted it soft - so I suggest to go there even further, reduce the contrast and use unsharp mask if that is available in Lightroom (I use Photoshop, so therefore I don't know). Or you might try and go to the the other extreme and really sharpen this baby up and use very high contrast. All depends what you want to say with this image. Maybe it is not quite abstract enough, I dunno ...
