    Default Three Curls

Well I started out trying to do the Shoot Through assignment, but wound up doing this shot of gouging out the purfling channel on a cello. I wish the progression from flat to dug out completely were clearer, but everything's pretty much the same colour, so getting the separation is really tough.

I like this image a lot, great background color. I would have maybe tried to get a little lower and placed the curls a little better in frame.

Unfortunately physics gets in the way for getting down lower, these curls are all of 10-15mm high, I'd have to shoot from the other side but then there would be no contrasting background just the vast expanse of fir. Possibly it could be done from further away using a longer lens, but then I'd have to buy a longer lens!

There's is the advantage that this perspective is one that you'd get as the maker using the tool.

I could re-crop it to put the shavings more centrally, but I wanted to keep as much of the gouge in the frame as possible. Maybe I'll play with it a little to see if the framing would work better differently.

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback!

Both are great, but i think that bit darker would be even better...
