Is that mold? The rust almost looks like it's the right texture for the trout!

It looks like a "fish print".
I remember those from my childhood when we used to go visit Goldstream Park to see the the salmon spawn.

It’s something I got off a metal cover over an old storm drain. Part of the company logo.

I know what you mean. The Japanese call it “Gyotaku”, and some of it is really beautiful.
