I bet that thread title got you guys looking!

My dad was driving one night so I set up the tripod in front of me in the passenger seat. Once I got found the right setting, we went around a bend
with a flashing light and voila!

Fascinating shot. I would not have thought to setup a tripod in a car.

    Default Hunh?

I don't quite get this one. Those are windshield wipers so you were shooting out the front of the car. How did you get the streaks in front of you? I just can't picture it in my head. I've done long exposure of car tail lights before but I was on the ground watching the cars go by. Maybe it's just too early in the morning for me to figure this one out.

Nice capture though. I like the pattern of light.

Great shot. I haven't tried one of these either! Maybe next time out!!! Did it matter if you used a constant speed or not?

I was inside the car with the tripod set up in front of the passenger seat.

Kat, it doesn't matter if you are going a certain speed or not. It is all in the settings that you are using in the camera. It takes a few minutes to get right, especially when the number of cars on the road varies throwing the the exposure for a loop. Different speeds will just give you different effects in the end. I have another one of these shots floating around on the site.

Did you notice JJ mentioned that there was a FLASHING yellow light? That's probably what's confusing you. The other lights were on continuous so there are just streaks that 'moved' past the car but the yellow lights were only captured as they flashed.
