Old Montreal BW reflection

I'd love to know what people think of this image and BW treatment.

Before I comment on this reflection did you flip vertically flip the photo? Never mind it is (sorry had to see the original view, I deleted it right after and sorry I did it without asking but my curiosity got the best of me.) I like the B&W treatment but not fond of the flipped image I think it would be a more interesting and powerful image if you had not vertically flipped it, just looks off and the distorted girl on the left looks odd and is a major distraction. With the original orientation the girl seems part of the image opposed to the distraction I she is now.

I like it and I really like the little girl looking over the edge. I kinda wish her face wasn't quite so noisy but the rest is really cool. I like the grittiness of it.

Well it always comes down to which one you prefer, our opinions are just that opinions and I can see people like the first one but for me it is the second one.

I can totally see why you flipped this ... it gives the appearance of a hole in walkway, like we are in the sewer looking out. Very cool!

I agree with MA. However, to me it doesn't seem quite right that the little girl is not sharp in the picture. When it is the right way around the lack of sharpness makes sense as you realise it is a reflection..

I would have LOVED to get both ends in sharp focus....but that wasn't happening.
I agree, I would have loved to have a shot of the girl in sharp focus, but the focal point (flag - left side of building, taken for this month's regular assignment) was chosen instead in the reflection. The girl looked into the puddle to see what i was doing, and then she split....all I needed was 5-10 more seconds. What a rat.

I love the perspective of the first flipped one over the original actually. The whole perspective, to me, is that much more intriguing. Little girl being out of focus? Oh well, we are looking up from underwater. Excellent play on this shot Marko.

It's a close all but I slightly prefer the first version. I like it how it took me a few seconds to figure out what that 'floating' block left of her head was It's a classy photo, I just sooooo wish that her eyes weren't obscured by that object in the puddle. I like how it's hard to make out much detail in the girl. It's easy to imagine her as some orphaned street waif.

I don't mind the noise, although I find the jaggies to the right of her head and on her calf to be very slightly distracting. Other than that I think the PP is powerful, suits the image well.
