    Smile Kenn Pier

Taken recently when we had snow locally.

Kenn Pier is the name of the spot where this was taken and refers to the small bridge I was standing on. These straight channels are all across this area to drain the low lying land and prevent flooding. Three channels come together here to form a crossroads and flow out to sea about 2 miles to the left of this photo.

As always, comments (and critiques) welcome!

    Thanks

You sure do love your piers

For me, the entire shot becomes about the yellow life preserver. It's interesting, but not a choice I would have made here.
The composition is strong - the yellow takes away from the lines here, and for me is a huge distraction.
Just curious, why did you make this choice?

When I first looked at this I had the same thoughts as Marko, without reading his post. I also agree that the yellow life preserver is a distraction in what would be an awesome bw image.

The scene was almost black and white when I took the photograph and this orange ring just stood out so thought it would be a good idea to leave that one bit of colour after converting. However sometimes you get too wedded to the idea rather than look at the image as a a whole! This forum is good at snapping you out of that! Will draw a line under this one and post the unadulterated version and let you tell me if it looks better.

    thanks for commenting

Never seen a life preserver in the country before, very strange.

I too find the life preserver too distracting and prefer the full B&W as in the other post.
