Ever feel that annoying frustration swelling up when you look at an image you took and for the heck of it you cannot remember where you took it (this applies more likely to the older participants in this forum, them old geezers that are close to "oldtimers" disease). It occurred one to many times for me so I thought i best see how to fix that. Since I shoot with Nikon, I obviously first looked at what Nikon has to offer. So here it is:



This one costs $ 280.00 and comes with one cable to connect you to your camera. Pretty expensive ... So i did some research and I came up with this one, which I thought would do the trick:

It is small, has two cables (for different models of Nikon Cameras, plus it has a remote shutter release, which works through the unit. Your 10 pin hole is covered by plugging in the GPS, so you would not have a chance to use a remote trigger, using the Nikon setup. This unit lists at the Opteka website as regular price $149.00, but they do have a sale from time to time and sell it for $109.05. Being the cheapskate that I am I went on eBay, and lo and behold ... I can find it for $39.95 plus 5 bucks shipping. That's more like it.

I have used this GPS unit extensively; it will lock within a minute or two onto the satellites, and give you pretty accurate info. Only thing is: better have a spare battery with you, cause it does consume a lot of juice and is fed from the camera's battery.
