I think I'm adjusting pretty well, myself. I'll be leaving for a five week job in LA (lower Alabama) this morning. While gathering some gear, I had a few moments that were a little rough when I looked at the empty spot in that big 'ol Tamrac Expedition 7x where the 90 used to rest. I think the 300s was a little lonely, so I mounted the 70-300mm, that seems to have suffered no damage in the fall, on my F-100 and put it in the bag. I won't mind shooting film for a few weeks until I get back home. Hopefully the new one will be there before me.Originally Posted by mbrager

sorry to hear that but seems like you've already adjusted. At 1000. cheaper and still full frame, you may consider the Nikon D600 that just came out a couple of weeks ago.

First of all: real tough luck. Second, wise choice with the new camera. I would even suggest to go to the 800e, if you can afford the extra 300 or so. But I am not sure if I would go for the D600, as Marko suggests. I looked at the write ups, and yes, there are some positives on it versus the 800, but boy, it is sure missing some functions or has limitations on functions that I would not like to see disappear on my new camera. You know that you still have another alternative: Go for a second D300, for example. Or even replacing the D90, they are abundant out there and should e easily gotten for a good price. Moving up to full frame means that maybe some of your lenses will have to be exchanged as well (I guess your 70-300 will not have to fear for its life).
Going up to the 800 will surely make you happy, I hear it is a wonderful instrument.

Wow, the D800 looks amazing! Wish I had a camera like that, I'm sure you'll love it.
