I like the cropped version better, it's only the master and nature then, as opposed to the pink structure (I didn't see it as a pagoda before reading the comments).

I like both but lean towards the first one with the wider crop. As Iggy says it's opinion. I do like the highlights.

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
This was more of a play photo than a keeper, but feel free to have that go if you're feeling ambitious.
thx!

"You have to milk the cow quite a lot, and get plenty of milk to get a little cheese." Henri Cartier-Bresson from The Decisive Moment.
Richards thought is along the same lines as as mine when I saw your crop. Immediately better to me eyes without the distraction but I seemed to yearn for the usual 3:2 aspect ratio. I said nothing about that because I figure I'm just biased to seeing it all the time.
The crop definitely brought the figurine into focus but I found it a little cramped. Your title makes me long for an in-focus branch just over his head, so he's sitting under the bonsai he's master of. But maybe that wasn't practical or part of your idea.
Since it was a play around photo, hope it was a good time.
