    Default The Marquee

This is a local theater in town that a friends band is playing at. The first photo shows the original photo, I know it is pretty rough. I was wanting to see how I did on getting it to look decent enough, still working on a lot of the post skills. Thanks.

good work on the post. I think you enhanced it well. You could play with some selective sharpening on the letters. I do have a couple comments on the composition though. I would recommend moving a few feet to left to avoid having the fence cut through the photo and to get more of the marquee in the shot (it's cut a bit). that may be due to the pole (I think) that's there. Not sure how easy it is to get around it. A night shot of it lit up would be cool as well.

Thanks. The composition is about as god as it gets. The theater was built a long while back and things have just been put where ever around it. There is actually another pole to the other side of the one in the edge of the picture. How would I go about selective sharpening around the letters? Never tried that before. And a night shot is something I want to try, just have to get there at a decent time, the sidewalks roll up early around here.

lol I hear you on the sidewalks rolling up
Sometimes there nothing you can do about what's around the structure, it's about minimizing the impact. In terms of selective sharpening it depends on what software you use. You can use a mask layer to just do the letters.
