So you see what I am talking about? If there was no editing on your part, it is just an optical illusion (maybe dark fur on his back).

Hi Tiger, no editing just crop. Lool, not very good at editing :-) Is it the downsizing of the image for the site? I noticed on the smaller version, that the blur or DOF seems to cut the image in half. depth wise. If you see what I mean?

It maybe the compression of the site? Is the dark halo in the original image? What size was the image when you uploaded it? It needs to be less than 275kb (and trust me, it affects the image a lot)

I appreciate the time your taking. Right, the size of the image on upload was, 79.9kb and dimensions are 603x400. and the dark halo isn't on the original.

Oh gosh no Tiger, sorry. The original file is 5.25gb

That dark halo is perplexing, and seeing as it's not on the original I can't offer too much to it's existence. Unless it's to do with the cropping somehow or, more likely perhaps, the sharpening process.

Other than that it's a very good, sharp photo and I really can't offer much in the way of critique.

We should check to see if the halo was caused by the board software compressing the image. In order to post an image to photography.ca you should resize it to ensure it is less than 1025 pixels (on the longest side) and less than 275KB. If it's larger than either of those dimensions the software on the board will resize it and the results are generally less than stellar.
