    Default 2nd Sync Flash

Last night I headed down to a local skate/bmx park where I found a group of young guys playing around a little. Funny how when you yank out a camera and stand right amoung the action there's suddenly more action going on

This is one of the shots I got that worked fairly well I think.

I'm not too worried about the composition so much ( you pretty much pan as best you can with the rider during the exposure time ) more just looking for comments on what people think of the effects this technique produced.

Photo details are Shutter 1/4, f2.8, ISO 200.

    Great Shot!

If you ever shoot in nightclubs and you have a lot of decent shots, play with sync flashes (rear and front) - you can get some great shots. I like getting somewhere stable and getting a wireless flash out by a dancer then popping off a couple different sync and strobe flashes.

That's pretty cool! Another nice technique you can use/play with for these type of "action" shots is to keep the flash on rear curtain sync, and experiment with camera motion *during* the exposure - try zooming in or out, or rotating the camera as you take the shot.

This way, you get the nice flash exposure at the end, but you get some really cool zoom/spinny motion blur behind the subject which is abstract and dynamic - it's a nice one to play with.

Sounds like a cool idea. A mate suggested trying a tripod also to stop the funky background patterns but still get the rider trails. All food for thought.

Dunno about good ... it was my first real attempt at this. Maybe this is very average and I can get way better and just haven't got a clue yet!
