If a harbour could talk. (Cove Berwickshire)

Here is my first image for the firing line, go easy on me because I am new lol. No seriously I hope I'm worthy of the forum. I also write the odd ditty and was looking for an image for this one for a long time. This is Cove Harbour Berwickshire, It's used for filming and was used in the film Mrs Brown starring Judi Dench & Billy Connolly.

I really like this image and its textured background. Fab start, and i dig the mood! Very nice composition here.

Personally though, I find the words as well as your copyright symbol quite distracting, they steal my attention away from the focal point of the image.

Thanks for the comment Marko. I did think maybe the font was wrong, I do have another image without text but I feel it helps tell the story of Cove harbour, its a very old harbour no longer being used. as for the copyright symbol I place it on all my images, I don't like it either but people have stolen my images in the past and I make a point of using it on all my images. I will however fade the image more for future images on here.

Ultimately, you are the boss of your own images so of course feel free to stand true to your vision. But the words themselves make this another kind of photography because the camera doesn't add words. are the words the best way to achieve your goal in telling this story?
For me, when they are super important I make them the title. that too can easily guide the viewer toward your vision but in a subtler way. Just a thought.

I too like the processing, composition and the story the picture tells. I agree with Marko that the words are unnecessary and draws your attention away from the image.

I really like the mood you have created here Kevin. I am going to differ from the earlier comments in that I dont mind the writing and I think the postioning balances the composition.

I do understand that it is totally personal preference, but I wonder how it would look if the lightest parts of the image (i.e buildings) were in focus, as opposed to the darker foreground. To me, I am having trouble determining the main point of interest between the building and the mooring steelwork.

It's a cool composition and the mood is very reminiscent of jumpinjimmyjava whom I haven't seen in a couple of months. I'm not a huge fan of them but that's personal preference as it's just not my style. That being said, the image is done very well.

I had a look at jumpinjimmyjava's images and I see what you mean. Some of them are very similar. I will be looking for more of his work.
