    Default Cambodian Fisherman

This was snapped out of the window on the bus we rode through Cambodia in. I know theres probably a hundred technical things wrong with it, but I thought Id post to see what people think anyways. Its one of my favorite shots of that trip, probably more for personal reasons than it being an actual good photograph. I think it got a little distorted when shrunk to fit. And please know how bumpy the roads are in that part of the world, so I know its not that clear. I feel that gives it more authenticity.

    Hi Kiley,

Although i can see why you like the photograph, there are many technical issues here. Distortion is the first problem, sharpness, blown out sky etc. At the end of the day - it's REALLY REALLY hard to get a quality photograph from a moving bumpy bus.

Kiley - How did you resize this photo? The way you saved it looks like it's seriously contributing to its pixilated quality.

yes, it definitely looks better at the original size. i resized it in irfanview. made the largest side 600 pixels and then moved that slider thing to about 48 i think.

I love the solitary feel of the photo. Very good capture from a Window of a moving bus. When I was a Windows user I loved the simplicity of irfanview for quick resizing and file conversion, just wish they made a mac version. Was the 48 the DPI setting?

the 48 is the jpeg quality slider thing. i really dont know how to resize or covert photos, and this is the only way i can make it work to upload as 100kbs or less. i barely know how to take a picture... if theres a way to resize that might make it look better, please feel free to let me in on it. and i dont know how to link to shots either, so you could view it in real size.

Kiley - I have played with Irfanview several times - I'd like to try this myself with your shot to see what i get. can you send it to me (The original) by email. photography (D O T) ca@gmail (D 0 T)com Use correct email formatting of course.

If I can do better I'll explain the steps I used.

    Thx

    Hey Kiley...

I cropped up some of the water at the bottom of shot (cropped using scrolling on the screen) and found the picture more pleasing to me...

    just a thought...
